Sean at one of his regular Plastering Demonstrations

Introduction

There is far more to the Art of Plastering than it would appear at first glance.

It is not uncommon to receive an enquiry from a potential customer who is unaware that the Plasterers Craft encompasses more than just “The Pink Stuff”.

We would like to use this website to inform you about the variety of skills and techniques that a fully experienced plasterer may utilise.

Sean Wheatley left school in 1981 and immediately took an apprenticeship with a local plastering contractor where he received thorough training in all aspects of the Modern Plastering Trade.

In 1990 he started his own business and since then he has diversified into the use of Traditional Materials and Skills.

Sean is a member of The Building Limes Forum and The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. He is regularly called upon to demonstrate on Home Owner and Builders Courses run by the SPAB as well as demonstrating for the last 2 years at The Grand Designs Live Exhibition in London’s Docklands.

He is also a member of The Plasterers Craft Guild and an Associate Member of The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers.

Sean feels that it is important to encourage a younger generation to become tradesmen and especially to preserve the traditional plastering skills. He has now trained three apprentices to become plasterers by supporting them through college with assistance from the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board).

We hope that you will find the information on this website useful and informative.
